From legacy systems to cloud-ready banking: HPB’s cloud-first core banking platform

How Croatia’s largest domestically-owned bank built a cloud-first core banking foundation with Neos.

As HPB modernises mission-critical banking services, the bank needed cloud agility with on-prem control, clear cost visibility and the ability to stand up high-performance environments fast. Partnering with Neos, HPB deployed Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, introduced CloudVane for FinOps governance and enabled teams through hands-on training and knowledge transfer — laying the groundwork for a broader Finacle-based core banking transformation.

This case study explores how HPB:
– Cut new environment setup to under 4 hours — down from a ~5-day on-premises process
– Tested, scaled and adapted more quickly during the payment system rollout
– Built a scalable foundation for a cloud-first, multicloud and Finacle-driven core banking platform

The solution
A compliant, hybrid foundation built on Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer for the database tier, running IBM OpenShift and Oracle Database, with CloudVane providing FinOps visibility, budgeting, anomaly detection and automated scaling based on utilisation. Neos led architecture, initial setup, deployment and knowledge transfer to HPB’s teams.

Discover how we helped HPB:
– Move from rigid on-prem systems to an agile, compliant hybrid model
– Gain actionable cost governance with budgeting, alerts and automation
– Refocus infrastructure teams from repetitive tasks to higher-value work
