The Fourth JavaCro Conference Successfully Held in Rovinj

The Croatian Oracle User Group (HrOUG) and Croatian Java Users Association (HUJAK) have put behind them another, the fourth in a row, and so far the biggest international Java event in Southeastern Europe – JavaCro’15.

This year, JavaCro was held in Hotel Istria on the magnificent island of Sveti Andrija (also known as Red Island) next to Rovinj. During the two days over 250 participants had an opportunity to hear lectures given by 50 speakers in three parallel tracks. The organizers managed to gather experts from Croatia and the region, as well as renowned international “big shots”.

Several key topics were the focus of this year’s conference. The Talk of the day was on the rising importance of Javascript and Javascript framework in the Java world. Another exciting presentation was the keynote given by Oracle evangelist David Delabassee, from the Oracle GlassFish and Java EE team, who presented new technologies in Java EE 8. It is needless to say how thrilled the audience was when Branko Mihaljević from HUJAK, revealed the release date of Java 9 a day before the global announcement.

As an Oracle Platinum partner, NEOS also participated in the conference. Our own Matija Dujmović gave a lecture entitled Utilize the full power of the Web with Restlet, dedicated to all those who want to turn Web services, websites and Web clients into unified Web applications that expose and consume RESTful Web APIs. Matija explained how the Restlet Framework enables users to do that with its unique Java API. „Stop adapting your applications to the Web and use its full power,” said our Java specialist, Matija Dujmović.

The JavaCro Conference has proven once again that it is the place to be for anyone who wants to extend their knowledge of Java, exchange experiences in Java implementations, and meet Java think alikes. NEOS is already looking forward to next year’s gathering of Java enthusiasts.
