ABOUT THE CLIENT
A1 Hrvatska is the first private mobile network operator in Croatia. They are part of A1 Telekom Austria Group, the leading provider of digital services and communication solutions in Central and Eastern Europe. A1 Telekom Austria Group operates in seven countries and together they provide services for approximately 24 million customers. A1 Hrvatska employs about 2000 people, and takes care of the needs of 2 million customers on a daily basis. They provide their customers a converged offer that includes a combination of mobile and fixed services and television. A1 offers complete business solutions and cloud-based solutions, and has also been developing new digital platforms, investing in the development of 5G technology and security solutions.
CHALLENGES & GOALS
The existing Data Warehouse System had several issues that made it insufficient for the growing needs of A1’s data management.
The existing hardware platform was near to out-of-support. The cost of ownership was high, it could not support the large data volume growth and had daily load performance issues.
After assessing the current state, we recommended a turnkey solution which would support their yearly data growth, shorten incremental data and CRM data mart load time, improve data usage load time and enhance overall performance.

A large volume of data was migrated to the Exadata platform and the backup strategy was changed from full to incremental forever backup, which reduced the amount of data that goes across the network and data growth, minimized the impact to the system and reduced the length of the backup window.
