ABOUT THE CLIENT

Croatia osiguranje is the largest and oldest insurance company in Croatia and one of the leaders on the Croatian insurance market with almost 28% market share (32% market share in non-life insurance). Croatia osiguranje was founded in 1884, as one of the first institutions of Croatian national identity. In more than a century of business, Crosig has followed customer needs, imposing itself as factor of economic stability. Since 2014, Crosig has been part of the Rovinj-based Adris Group, establishing the position of the leading insurance company in the country and leading new trends in the industry.

CHALLENGES AND GOALS

In accordance with the client’s request, we conducted the study that would provide a more detailed insight into the current state of the DW / BI system from various aspects (technological, organisational, cost, functional, etc.). The above analysis deliveries were used as a basis for a more detailed elaboration of future activities (strategies) towards a consolidated and unified DW / BI system.

SOLUTION

Main goals of the project:

  • Provide high level overview of current situation related to DW/BI related areas in CROATIA OSIGURANJE d.d.
  • Present best practices and recommendations which we consider to be best aligned to future DW/BI environment taking in consideration currently existing infrastructure and all identified requirements
  • Provide our view on future DW/BI strategy from logical, technology and architectural aspect which is aligned with current worldwide trends in similar organisations
  • Identify areas and recommendations which should have best value/effort rate
  • Define high level roadmap with recommended actions and milestones

ABOVE IT ALL

After the completion of the project DWH/BI screening, the client launched a series of activities to improve the existing system. In the first step, the hardware platform was upgraded to more a appropriate Oracle Exadata system. In the second step, the project of migrating the existing ETL tool to a new and more modern ETL tool was launched.
