Consolidated billing and customer data from 21 distribution centers

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Hrvatska elektroprivreda (HEP Group) is the national energy company, which has been dealing with generation, distribution and supply of electricity for more than a century. In the last few decades HEP has also been dealing with distribution and supply of heat energy and natural gas to customers. Hrvatska elektroprivreda is organised as a concern, a group of connected companies (daughter companies). The parent company (parent body) of HEP Group is HEP d.d., which carries out the function of corporate governance of HEP Group and guarantees conditions for safe and reliable electricity supply to customers.

Subsidiary companies (managing, accounting, legal) which conduct regulated activities (transmission and distribution) within HEP Group are clearly separated from companies which conduct non-regulated activities (generation and supply).

CHALLENGES & GOALS

The goal of the project was to design and implement the framework for the future Central Data Warehouse System and also to Implement the DW/BI Billing Subject Area Data Mart.

The challenge was to develop a DWH/BI solution that is suitable for reporting on sales, debts and other operating measures in all distribution areas that HEP ODS covers.

SOLUTION

The BI/DWH solution has been developed using NEOS DWH framework and OWB 11g For ETL implementation. This system collects and transforms data from various source applications in HEP. For reporting and BI, OBI 11g has been used, and it has provided solid ground for reporting and BI solution development.

For the decision support solution, a specific solution has to be developed, one that provides the full perspective and a detailed view into all HEP ODS business.  The other challenge, flexible transfer of rather big amount of operational data (all Croatian customers), has been implemented using NEOS DWH framework.
