Presentation ceremony for Port of Ploče Authority's PCS system held

On June 12th at Merlot hotel in Opuzen, Port of Ploce Authority has presented their PCS (Port Community System), i.e. the port information system that will be established for all members of the port community. The project is financed by the World Bank loan. NEOS participates as a consultant to the Port Authority and a supervisor on the project.

Unlike the business information systems (ERP), PCS systems do not deal in goods, finance, etc. They allow the exchange of information among all participants in the port processes, that is, port community. Therefore, they are common in major European and world ports because they provide quick and accurate process performance in which a large number of subjects participate, with great savings in time and amount of required manual labor. PCS systems also have other strengths ? they increase security at ports, reduce handling costs by enabling the preparation of upcoming activities, faster and easier coordination and notification of all interested parties. PCS system will allow integration with external systems in Croatia (and beyond), for example, the CIMIS system that the Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure is currently establishing as the Croatian “National Single Window” system.

Over 50 guests from the port community, social and political invitees, attended the presentation. PPA representatives, Mr. Tomislav Batur, Director, and Mr. Svemir Zekulić, Assistant Director, talked about the project as well as research associates, contractors and consultants.

The concept of PCS systems and information about its creation were showed, including live presentation, on the basis of implemented processes related to liquid cargo. The second part briefly presented the APC project that connects several European ports at the level of information exchange on cargo, ship calls, etc. which will be based precisely on the PCS system existence in a port.

PCS system represents the future of the Port community of Ploče, and will certainly bring significant advances not only for the port community but also the town of Ploče and the entire region. It is the proper way to get involved into business Europe. NEOS is proud to be actively participating on the project which will enable the establishment of a single PCS system in Croatia.
