Neos at 2 different conferences – IOT Forum and HrOUG 2018

Last week was very busy at Neos because we visited 2 conferences. The first event was in Zagreb, and it was the first IOT Forum held in Croatia. The whole day event was about IoT technology and what is its commercial use. Since IoT is becoming part of everyday life it is no surprise that lots of experts from this region participated in the sessions, key notes and panels which were all part of Internet of Things Forum.

Keynote presentations were held by Silviu Neghina (Country Director Eastern Europe, Sigfox – IOT Net Adria), Ivan Maglić (Director, Calisto/Gartner Adriatic) and Tomislav Kosanović (Business Development & Partner management director, HT Hrvatski Telekom).

The most interesting part of the Forum was panel with subject “Will everything be connected to the Internet?” whose moderators were Oleg Maštruko and Aron Paulić of Bug. Attendees had different opinions on how IoT will develop in this region, particularly in Croatia. General opinion was that smart cities will have a huge impact on growing IoT technology, particularly projects that will be part of EU funds. Whatever your opinion might be on Internet of Things, the conclusion of Forum was that IoT revolution has just begun.

The second conference we visited was the annual Croatian Oracle Users Group (HrOUG) Conference 2018. in Rovinj. This year’s 23rd HrOUGwas held from October 16 to October 19.

HrOUG is a conference with wide variety of topics of interest to the broader circle of participants. The main idea of the conference is to provide exchange of experiences among different users of Oracle products as well as a stronger link among the IT community.

The opening speech was held by Davor Ranković (president of HrOUG), Marin Tadić (Oracle Croatia) and Leo Mršić (conference program director of HrOUG). With over 15 Oracle ACE speaker at this year HrOUG, attendees could also hear over 70 lectures, such as those of Alex Nuijten (allAPEX) and Role Hartman (APEX Consulting), that were best rated speakers from last year’s conference.

Beside keynote speech that was held every day the conference also had 7 different tracks where everybody could find something of interest. Tracks were divided into: Leaders Circle, DBA, Apex, Development and Tools, Cloud, Business Intelligence & Analytics and Best Practices & Success Stories.

Work part of conference was held within Leader Circle track, so attendees could participate in 3 different panels with themes such as:

  • Artificial Intelligence: Oxymoron of Transformative Tool,
  • Playful Technologies: Creativity, Innovation, Business,
  • and Blockchain-based Services: from Middleman to Enabler.

HrOUG is widely recognized as biggest and most important Oracle community gathering in the region. With over 300 participants this is the conference where Oracle partners and users for 4 days share and think alike. Since we are an Oracle Platinum Partner we truly appreciate this kind of conference, so we will say thank you for this one and see you next year.
