Social Network Analysis Presented in Dubai

During the Oracle Partner Day for Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Gulf States, the Levant and North African partners, held in Dubai on February 11, 2015, NEOS was given a unique opportunity to present Social Network Analysis tools and techniques together with Oracle’s Demetris Skourides.

During the live demo session Mr. Demetris Skourides, Director at the A&C Technology Adoption Office, gave the audience an intro to Oracle’s Big Data Vision, putting strong emphasis on its benefits for businesses. Mr. Skourides presented the leading solutions in the industry, Oracle Big Data and Business Analytics, showing how they can help companies expand and acquire new customers through a wider array of new sources of information. After his introduction, NEOS ‘s Dražen Marković presented the Social Network Analysis for Telecom Industry – a new set of tools and techniques that can help telecom companies manage their businesses  better and provide more value to customers, as well as employees and shareholders.

In comparison with the traditional approach to analysis, in which each individual is described by a set of attributes such as age, sex, income or location, the Social Network Analysis (SNA) approach focuses on relations between customers, describing the connections between them.

Since telecom providers are well aware of the social aspects of the economy, especially in terms of the relationships within the subscriber base, with the SNA approach they are able to better understand customers and their communities, target the ‘right’ customers and clarify the process whereby a person’s decisions are influenced by the opinions of others.

Mr. Skourides and Mr. Marković have therefore used the Oracle Partner Day in Dubai to show to the audience how the joint usage of Big Data concepts and concrete solutions based on SNA can be used to improve business in general, with an emphasis on marketing and sales strategies, campaign management; and churn prevention.
