Following several months of planning and hard work in this time of recession, we decided – solution for everything is to organise paintball together with a barbecue. It was an excellent opportunity to deal with some old debts and secret wishes (you know everything that goes through your head when people you work with do not meet your expectations…)
After playing for two hours, exhausted and wounded warriors were given first aid in form of Slavonian brandy and meat delicacies prepared by the barbecue expert – Dražen. All in all, we had a nice time together and should do it more often

In the period of 22 to 25 June we participated in the Oracle WebCenter workshop, which was held in Slovenia. The workshop included exercises with WebCenter Spaces, Web 2.0 services, ADF and portlets. Oracle WebCenter allows building of rich web applications, portals and team cooperation web pages. WebCenter Spaces relates to a ready-to-use application for quick web application development that improves cooperation among teams due to better and faster information management. It can be used without programming skills. Web 2.0 services can be used when working with WebCenter Spaces technology or when developing applications with ADF Faces technology. At the workshop we were also presented with the possibilities of Oracle Composer with which the user can tailor web page components to its requirements.

This will be followed by a more detailed exploration of all possibilities and building of a demo application, which would include forum, chat, wiki, rss and similar modern components.

The Information Age conference was held on 13 April 2010 at the Sheraton hotel. The conference had about 400 participants. Neos was a gold sponsor and held two presentations at the conference and we were also available for contact at the info desk (also known to visitors as sweets table ).

As part of the technology board Filip Ujević (Croatia osiguranje), Gordan Hribernik (Croz) and Davorin Capan held the presentation titled “Oracle-based SOA in Croatia osiguranje”. It discussed the experience in implementation of a SOA project in limited environment, which served as a production pilot for setting technology guidelines for future implementation and use of SOA concept.

The second presentation was part of the application board. The topic “OFSA – Profitability Management for Banks” was presented by Mario Mrljić speaking about common experiences by Neos and S&T.

OFSA is Oracle application set for monitoring and planning of profitability in financial institutions, among other functionalities. Its use is considered more and more both in Croatia and in the region so you may be interested to learn about the benefits it brings to your business.

SOA is a concept which is becoming the main approach in application development for complex business environments. You will have the opportunity to listen about experiences in SOA project implementation in controlled environment, which served as a production pilot for setting technological directions for future implementation and use of SOA concept.

Another successful implementation of the Insight Bookstore system in the newly opened Citadela University Library at the Zadar University. A mini version of the Insight Enterprise system proved to be an excellent solution here as it is adjusted for work in a reduced system environment while still keeping all characteristics of a larger system.
Within a short deadline and at the satisfaction of both parties, a material accounting module, representation – sales on commission and POS were implemented in the Citadela bookstore. Training lasted for two days, which is sufficient for basic learning of the system and input of initial state and preparation for launching of production operation.

We wish the bookstore a successful opening and look forward to future successful cooperation.

Neos d.o.o. has renewed its membership, with minor difficulties bearing in mind the changes in the entire organisation of Oracle partner network. In view of the changes, unlike the earlier Oracle Certified Partner, Neos has since February become a proud partner with Gold status. We have chosen the following specializations: Data Warehousing, Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation and Service-Oriented Architecture and we will able to realise that choice now that we have received official notice on membership renewal. We hope to have a successful year in which we will justify the new status.

As part of the TTI Project - Trade and Transport Integration Project, the Port of Ploče Authority is undertaking building of the port information system. The goal is to enable simple and fast information exchange among participants in the port processes, to eliminate information flow redundancy and drastically decrease waiting time for information within the port community.

In the first phase of the building of port information system the activities were conducted on business processes reengineering, entire system design and preparation of tender documents according to the World Bank standards.

For preparation of tender documents the Dutch company Amsterdam Port Consultants was selected. In this phase Neos provided services to the Port of Ploče Authority related to supervision of the prepared tender documents and assistance in its interpretation. Our activities, based on experience in tender documents analysis and preparation as well as experience with modern technology solutions, were directed to achieving high quality of project and tender documents.

This lead to fulfilment of conditions for successful completion of the second project phase – the very building and commissioning of the port information system. In addition to Port of Ploče Authority, Amsterdam Port Consultants and NEOS, the World Bank experts were also involved in this part of the project. The project, which lasted from July 2008 to January 2010 was completed to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

Last year began SOA pilot project for the insurance company Croatia osiguranje d.d.
Our role has been developing web application using ADF tehnology based on web services.

Web servises was created on the basis of PL/SQL procedures and exposed using Oracle SOA technology for wich was responsible company CROZ d.o.o.

Demo application shown the possibility of implementing many technological functionality(ADF security, calling of BI Publisher reports, LOV, drop-down list, using fragments and ADF page flows, using dialogs, number and date formatting, using forms and tables for searching and input data, field validations, calling actions...) but we showed some problems and work-arounds, too.
