NEOS participates in Database Optimization Seminar

In Zagreb, Oracle organized a specialized seminar on database optimization with a strong emphasis on Advanced Compression and Partitioning features. The seminar also dealt with the review of concrete results that occurred after the implementation of the Oracle Database Enterprise Edition in our region.

Twenty companies from Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina who have aready implemented the Oracle Database Enterprise Edition, the most powerful version of database, were invited to this seminar in order to exchange knowledge and find out more about the wide range of options they can use to get the most out of Oracle’s database. Since NEOS have extensive experience with the Oracle database and since they handle enormous amounts of data on a daily basis as part of their DW/BI business, NEOS expert Davor Habjanec, Solution Architect was invited to lecture on two highly used features: Advanced Compression and Partitioning. Davor explained in detail the benefits these two features bring in Data Warehouse projects and solutions, backing them up with concrete examples as well as with success stories from NEOS’ customers.

Oracle Advanced Compression helps businesses manage data growth more cost-effectively by automating data management processes that maximize resource utilization with compression rates of 2 to 4x across all types of data and applications, thus saving disk space and improving query performance.

Oracle Partitioning enhances database manageability, performance, and availability for a wide variety of applications. Oracle Partitioning allows tables, indexes and index-organized tables to be subdivided into smaller pieces and cost-effectively managed on different disk storage tiers with a finer level of granularity to improve access performance.
